Pika Bunny has a big Question

Pika Bunny has a big Question
Author: Wendy Gilhula
Illustrated by: Adrianna “Ad” Allegretti

As a teacher working with today’s youth, something that we struggle with teaching children is how to be kind and understanding of other’s feelings. There are tons of resources when it comes to teaching math and reading but when teaching social skills, it’s important to teach these skills in a way that children really understand and connect with. One way I tend to teach these skills is through children’s literature.

Pika Bunny has a big Question is now going to be a permanent staple in my class library. This book does an amazing job of addressing the skills of being kind and understanding to those around you in a way that children will be able to understand.  This book follows a bunny, Pika, as he learns what it means to be kind to those around him. This book demonstrates to readers how a little kindness can go a long way.

The illustrations are bright and eye catching that will for sure keep the attention of young readers. Within the text, the author has also chosen to use various color text to highlight certain words that are meant to stand out.   The colors chosen for the text connect back into the story in a way that as a reader I can appreciate the amount of detail that went into publishing this book.

I would definitely recommend this book to all of my teacher friends or parents to read with their children.
